Vas Hermeticum: Between the Imaginal and the Real (2025/26),

Concertina Sketch book with pencil, ink, watercolour, acrylic, collage paper covered in Dorland’s Wax Medium. With selected found objects from personal collection.

Vas Hermeticum: Between the Imaginal and the Real brings together a concertina sketchbook and a constellation of found objects within an intimate, contained display. The concertina, one of six developed in the last 2 years, operates as a site of psychic encounter, where painting, staining, and mark-making become processes of dialogic engagement with emerging imagery. Informed by alchemical thinking, the sketchbook functions as a vas Hermeticum—a sealed vessel in which traces of the psyche form and unfold through material practice, reflective attention, and the dynamics of projectio.

The accompanying objects act as imaginal traces, carrying echoes of lived experience, memory, and affect. Together, these elements form a constellational field in which fragments are gathered, held, and reworked, allowing symbolic configurations to emerge. The work positions artistic practice as a mode of inquiry where meaning arises through sustained engagement with the imaginal.
